Club History

The Hackpen White Horse C.B (Country) DX and Social club was established in November of 1985 as a CB DX radio club, and at the AGM on the 9th November 2002, the members agreed that the club name should be changed to "The Hackpen White Horse Radio And Social Club", this was subsequently changed to "The Hackpen White Horse Radio Club" due to VAT & Tax reasons.

In November of 1986 the club has it's first AGM with a proper committee formed I.E Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and a working committee, and then transformed into a social club with the emphasis still relating to CB Radio.

The club over the years has been involved in various activities such as charity sponsored DX raising money for Swindon Hospital Radio, Wootton Bassett 65 plus club, A specialised vehicle for the St Johns Ambulance Station (Wroughton), Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Children's Burns Unit in Odstock Hospital at Salisbury.

Also, the club is involved in monitoring the Wiltshire Wildlife trust "Sarsen Trail" and "Neolithic walk" and marathon from Avebury to Stonehenge in Wiltshire, a total distance of 26 miles, supplying around 15 mobile CB stations en-route.

We also monitor the Cricklade Fun Run, 10Km and 1/2 marathon which is a charity event to raise money for the local youth clubs, and we are also involved in car park marshalling at the North Nibley Lister Petter Tyndale Rally near Dursley, Gloucester.

Other outdoor activities have included a Bar-B-Que in Savernake forest, Marlborough, a treasure / fox hunt around North Wiltshire and also cricket matches and darts tournaments.

The club meetings are held at Broad Hinton Village Hall, just off of the A4361 between Swindon and Avebury, using the turning nearest to Swindon is the easier way to get to the hall.
